Social Programs

The best neighbor to Allah is the one best to his neighbors.Prophet Mohammad (SAW)

Our Objective: Foster programs/activities that will bring the community together with no bias in age, gender, language, educational, cultural, ethnic or racial differences.

There are several annual, bi-monthly/quarterly, and monthly programs currently in place. Our objectives are to:

  • Establish health and fitness activities for all age groups.
  • Coordinate and support family events such as Aqiqah and Azza.
  • Organize blood drive with the local Red Cross at the masjid.
  • Develop "family friendly" activities that will involve families such as:

    - Bowling night
    - Game/quiz night
    - Bonfires
    - Movie night
    - Nature walk
    - BBQs
    - Pre-Ramadan kids arts & crafts
    - Annual family picnic at Lake Wylie
    - Food fair and food competition
    - Sports: volleyball, badminton, soccer

We welcome anyone in the community who is willing to offer a helping hand with some of our tasks. We are always in search of fresh ideas!

Soup Kitchen

On the first Thursday and last Saturday of every month, ICCSC families provide a warm meal for 60-90 less fortunate neighbors at The Hope Center in Rock Hill, SC (546 S. Cherry Rd Suite #S, Rock Hill, SC (Tel: (803) 328-0003) - Note: entrance next to cemetery, go all the way to the back). This facility is an emergency crisis center that has no active kitchen, and welcomes warm, tasty meals for the needy.

(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.Surah Al-Insan, 8-9

Visiting the Elderly

Members of the ICCSC Social Committee have been visiting a local nursing home in Ballantyne on a monthly basis. Islam stresses the importance of respect and companionship to our elderly citizens both within our families and within our society as a whole.

The Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) said: Any young person who is kind to an elderly because of his age, Allah will send him someone who will be kind to him when he becomes old.Al Tirmidhi
